About

The photo under the blog heading was taken near Terre Du Lac, in western St. Francois County, Missouri, just a few miles from Bonne Terre.

This is the official website of the World Changers project at Bonne Terre, Missouri.  It contains information related to the project.  Comments from participants are welcomed and encouraged.

The project actually covers all of St. Francois County, Missouri, including the communities of Bonne Terre, Desloge, Park Hills, Leadington, Leadwood, Farmington, Bismarck and Knob Lick, as well as the rural areas.  A portion of the funding comes from the East Missouri Action Agency, an assistance agency in Park Hills, as well as some of the local churches and other local resources.

This is the second year for World Changers to come to St. Francois County.  Last year, 18 homeowners were served by approximately 220 participants from Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, Texas and Tennessee.  This year, 300 participants have registered for the project, from Missouri, Arkansas, Alabama, Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa, Illinois, and North Carolina.

The project leadership includes three individuals who have all worked with World Changers in several different capacities.  Lee Saunders is the project coordinator and involved with World Changers since 1993.  He has served as project coordinator at seven projects in Nashville, TN, as well as in Decatur, TX, Benton, AR and last year in Bonne Terre, MO.  He is the Associate Pastor of Garden Oaks Baptist Church in Houston, TX.  Craig Pope has been a group leader for numerous projects and serves as construction coordinator.  He served as associational coordinator in Bonne Terre last year, and works full time in the construction business as well as serving as youth pastor at Sonrise Baptist Church in Bonne Terre.  Aaron Radford, the associational coordinator, has taken his group from First Baptist Church of Bismarck, MO, to several World Changers projects and also works for the Bismarck school district.  His role at the project, in addition to lining up local churches to help host crews, is to help participating churches with their Wednesday evening activity and to make sure they feel welcome in the community.

Pray with us about the project week.
